The proliferation of MP3s is a phenomenon that is reflected in a wide range of digital technology that utilizes this format. Support for the popular music file type is being included in devices ranging from cameras to stereo systems to DVD players. It seems that the MP3, along with similarly compressed digital audio files (such as WMA and OGG), is becoming the medium of choice for more and more people these days.

    Wacom Graphire Bluetooth CTE-630BT 01/02/2006 19:00:07

Specification-wise, Wacom's Graphire Bluetooth CTE-630BT is akin to their wired Graphire 4 range. With similar sensitivity and resolution levels, we found that the performance of the Bluetooth version was comparable with that of the CTE-640, the flagship of the Graphire 4 series. Nevertheless, the CTE-630BT delivered an entirely different experience, based largely on its wireless status.

    Sony DST-HD500 31/01/2006 15:00:10

Replacing the older Sony high definition model, the DST-HD100, the DST-HD500 both expands and improves upon its predecessor. While it still has a few issues that could be resolved, on the whole the HD500 is an exceptional unit and is very well suited to higher-end home entertainment setups.

    NEC NDH-160 23/01/2006 19:01:43

Very similar to the LG RH7926W, NEC's NDH-160 differs only aesthetically to the LG, utilising the same interface, design and features. A strong focus on recording and a few minor remote control foibles characterise this recorder.

    Sharp HT-M700H 22/01/2006 15:00:20

A solid low to mid-range home theatre setup, Sharp's HT-M700H is a great option for users looking for a small surround sound system. A stylish, modern design and a balanced range of sound quality impressed us, although there are a few key omissions which really detract from the overall package, especially regarding connection options.

    Wacom Graphire 4 CTE-640 19/01/2006 15:00:38

The bigger brother of the Wacom Graphire 4 CTE-440, the CTE-640 is essentially a 6x8" (A5) version of the smaller, 4x5" tablet, but comes with a few other interesting additions, as well. While the Graphire 4 range doesn't quite compare to the professional levels of performance boasted by Wacom's Intuos range, it does provide an inexpensive yet powerful option for those looking for a graphics tablet.

    Sharp CD-SW200E 18/01/2006 15:00:06

A fairly standard CD player, the CD-SW200E from Sharp fails to distinguish itself through sound quality, but does present itself as a versatile and useful Hi-Fi system. Support for MP3/WMA files, a huge subwoofer, and an easy-to-use interface all combine to make the Sharp a perfect system for youngsters and budget users alike.

    Linophir BC-644 17/01/2006 07:00:33

Based on previous experiences with Linophir products, we were a little reluctant when reviewing the 256MB BC-644, but found that generally it offered respectable performance, securing a stable place in the low-budget MP3 player market.

    Navigate...in 3D! 15/01/2006 09:03:35

This year's Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas was a brilliant way for the industry to start 2006. With over 150,000 attendees and 2,500 exhibitors, the show was nothing short of massive. Rather than give a run down of everything that happened during the four day event, we thought we'd talk about one of our favourite gadgets instead.

Seagate's 100 gigabyte external hard drive is both a reliable and portable storage solution. Built with a simple, no fuss and highly portable design, what the Seagate lacks in features, it makes up for in convenience and simplicity.

    CineTrek WDR041 11/01/2006 21:40:36

This portable DVD player from NU is an excellent option for those looking for an affordable device for in-car DVD playback, provided that they don't mind substandard image and audio quality. We're not being facetious either; quality is what we look for in massive LCD and plasma television sets, not seven inch portable DVD players. While image quality does suffer on the Cinetrek, it is in fact a very viable choice for in car entertainment.
