Enthusiastic phone modders and technophiles will relish Xiaomi’s smartphones. Weekly updates make the already comprehensive software better while adding a touch of something fresh. This makes Xiaomi smartphones ideal for people who tire from the same smartphone easily.
The Chinese smartphone company supplements its software with the Xiaomi App store. Unfortunately Xiaomi’s app store is not compatible with English, and this will likely present a problem for Australians.
An Australian reseller of Xiaomi smartphones sources its stock from Hong Kong to ensure Google Play comes pre-installed. But for those who have a version sourced from Xiaomi’s homeland of China, there is a simple way to get Google’s suite of applications — including access to Google Play — on the smartphone.
Four easy steps to Play
Fortunately installing Google’s application suite can be done from the MiStore in three easy steps:
1. First enable the installation of third-party (unknown) applications.
Access the Settings menu, nominate the Security sub-menu, and then make sure Unknown sources setting is ticket.
2. Open the MiStore app and create an account.

3. Enter “Google” in the search field and download the first application.
4. Open the app when done and install the Google apps of your choice. Be sure you tick the “I trust this app” option.
Now you can install popular Google apps including Chrome, Gmail, Maps, Calendar and more.
