Which smartphone will you buy in 2014?

Samsung, Sony, HTC, Nokia, LG or Apple?

Sony Xperia Z2

Sony Xperia Z2

In a matter of days, Samsung’s new Galaxy S5 will be sold in stores. It’ll sit alongside HTC’s One (M8), which was released but ten days earlier. Sony’s Xperia Z2 will follow shortly, along with Nokia’s recently unveiled Lumia 930.

The tech-savvy will find this the most exciting time of year. Smartphones are not only the most commonly used piece of technology, but they also sit at the heart of our home ecosystem, controlling devices that include our televisions, blu-ray players, sound systems, and on some smartphones, even our air conditioners.

Good Gear Guide has kept its finger on the pulse when it comes to new smartphones, but we would like to know which phones you — the people — intend to spend your hard earned money on.

Below is a poll we’ll append to our articles. Simply nominate which smartphone you would like to buy. The poll only lists flagship devices that have been announced. It is for this reason you won’t see an “Apple iPhone 6” option.

Drop by often if you wish to check out the poll’s results. No matter which way the cookie crumbles, it will be interesting.

Already a windows phone user (lumia 920) and love it. Though I am looking forward to an updated OS with such things as notification centre and quick setting options which was sorely missed. Pretty much the small things that I guess makes the phone on par with everyone else

blackberry Z30. Already own a Z10 and it outsmarts the IOS and Android phones in my office. I am also the only one that can take calls inside the office. All the others have to go outside to make and receive calls. And if need be, I can run a lot of Android apps as well as my BlackBerry apps.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
