Analysts "confident" that a bigger iPhone will launch next year

The iPhone 6 could come in two new sizes mid-2014, analysts say

Reports this week have reiterated the rumour that Apple is working on a larger iPhone (or two) that could be set to launch in 2014, with two analysts claiming that supply chain research has made them "confident" that a bigger iPhone is coming.

DisplaySearch analyst David Hsieh has said that Apple is planning to "revamp nearly all of the displays in its products over the next year," including the iPhone, iPad, iPad mini and MacBook Air.

Hsieh predicts that Apple's iPhone 6 will arrive in the second quarter of 2014, and will come in two different sizes: 4.7in and 5.7in.

In his report, Hsieh also suggests that a 12.9in iPad is in the works, but doesn't specify when we might see the product come to market. See: iPhone 5s A7 chip could hint at bigger future for iPad

Hsieh also speculates that the long-rumoured Apple TV set may finally launch next year, in the third-quarter of 2014, followed by an iWatch in the final quarter of the year. He expects the Apple television, dubbed iTV, to come in 55in and 65in models, and expects the iWatch to have a 1.3in to 1.63in flexible AMOLED display.

Meanwhile, Cantor Fitzgerald analyst Brian White has also been inspecting Apple's supply chain and has said that sources indicate that Apple is preparing to launch a larger iPhone next year.

White is currently on a tour of tech companies in China and Taiwan, which has led him to believe that an iPhone with a 5in display is in the works.

"Given today's meeting, we are confident that a larger iPhone (approximately five inches) will become a reality in 2014," he said.

White also touched on the rumoured iWatch this week. He says that his supply chain source has indicated that the wearable tech would provide a way to control a connected home, or smart home, turning on the heading, switching on lights and playing music through a home sound system, for example.

Like Hsieh, White also believes the iWatch will launch before the end of 2014.

Apple is reportedly planning an iPad-themed special event on 22 October where we expect to see the unveiling of an iPad 5 and iPad mini 2. To find out what to expect, visit our 22 October Apple event preview.

Windows 10 / HP Spectre

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

Windows 10 / Lenovo Yoga

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
