First impression on unpacking the Q702 test unit was the solid feel and clean, minimalist styling.
Foxtel Play’s killer feature: live sport
- — 16 August, 2013 15:00
Foxtel Play is kicking goals left and right with sports fans, securing streaming coverage of two popular sporting series for its streaming IPTV service.
The fixtures will be live on FOX SPORTS and FOX SPORTS Plus — both of which are available through Play's $25 per month Sports ‘Premium Pick’ package, which must be paired with at least one Genre pick for a minimum cost of $50 per month.
These sporting broadcasts will only be showed live — Foxtel hasn’t secured the rights to store catch-up versions for delayed viewing — making a cable Foxtel subscription still the ultimate choice for recording and storing matches.
The first matches of each series will be broadcast live over Play and Go on this Saturday 17 August, with coverage of the first Bledisloe match between Australia’s Wallabies and the New Zealand All Blacks kicking off at 7PM from Sydney’s ANZ Stadium. The opening round of the Barclay’s Premier League begins with Liverpool v Stoke City at 9:30PM, with a further five matches shown simultaneously at 11:50PM.
Foxtel Play makes a Foxtel subscription more accessible to a variety of users, with subscribers able to view it through a Samsung Smart TV, Xbox 360 console, PC or Mac, with LG Smart TV support to be added soon.
Foxtel Go, the mobile device counterpart of Play, can be downloaded to any Apple iPhone 4 or newer smartphone, and any iPad or iPod touch 5 or newer. Android support is available for Samsung’s Galaxy S3, Note 2 or Note 10.1 devices, although the popular Galaxy S4 should be included in that list soon.
