What's the best BlackBerry smartphone?

The five best BlackBerry smartphones

1. BlackBerry Z10

Rating: Reviewed on: 21 March 13RRP: £579 inc. VAT

The design and build quality of the Z10 just makes it seem like a cheap plastic iPhone to us. Hardware is reasonable with the screen being the stand out feature and the BlackBerry 10 software makes this the most attractive BlackBerry smartphone to date. However, given the price, the iPhone or a decent Android handset is still a preferable option.

2. BlackBerry Bold Touch 9900

Rating: Reviewed on: 28 October 11RRP: £209 inc. VAT

The Bold series gets a much needed facelift in design and extra power under the hood.

3. BlackBerry Torch

Rating: Reviewed on: 12 December 11RRP: £250 inc. VAT

Overall, RIM may have done too little with the Torch. It offers the same core features as other BlackBerry 7 smartphones, but the single home screen looks bare when compared to the multiple-screen, widget-supporting offerings of competitors.

4. Blackberry Bold 9790

Rating: Reviewed on: 10 January 12RRP: £265 inc. VAT

The Bold 9790 is a business smartphone running Blackberry OS 7 featuring a touchscreen and a QWERTY keypad.

5. BlackBerry Curve 9320

Rating: Reviewed on: 28 May 12RRP: £104 inc. VAT

A cheap-and-cheerful BlackBerry smartphone, there's lot to like about the BlackBerry Curve 9320, although you do get what you pay for.

STYLISTIC Q572

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
