The week in iPhone cases: Avengers, assemble!

Our weekly iPhone-case roundup

The Week in iPhone Cases

In this installment of our weekly iPhone-case roundup, we bring you what is possibly the most minimalistic case we've ever seen, and, at the opposite end of the spectrum, a veritable exoskeleton inspired by one of Marvel's most beloved characters.

The Grip Candy Sheer (iPhone 5; $25) offers a two-tone design with a glossy finish and translucent-TPU construction that protects your iPhone from everyday hazards.

It's available in a dozen different versions, each featuring a unique combination of colors.

Bite My Apple

The Radius (iPhone 5; $70) is as minimalistic as iPhone cases get, with only four corner covers and a specially-designed cross brace that keeps those covers tightly attached to your handset. It's corner-drop protection that does not add bulk to your phone.

Made entirely from aluminium, the Radius is built so that it steers clear of the iPhone's antenna implements. The "case" is available in red and polished metal, red and slate metal, all slate metal, or all polished metal.

The Iron Man Mark VII (iPhone 5; $49) is a limited-edition case inspired by the popular Marvel character's suit.

In addition to keeping your iPhone's back safe from dents and scratches, it features a special shoulder camera cover and a cool-looking arc-reactor light.

The Q Card Case (iPhone 5; $40) is made from premium soft-touch and fabric materials and features a side pocket that can expand to accommodate up to three plastic cards or cash.

It comes in black, brown, teal, or red.

The Dual Pro (iPhone 5; $30) combines a soft, silicone core with a rigid shell to offer excellent protection against shock and scratches.

It features a coated camera ring to help prevent reflections and a soft-touch finish for an excellent grip. The case is available in various color combinations or solid blue, pink, purple, black, and grey.

The Claro (iPhone 5; $30 to $40) is made from transparent polycarbonate and is coated with a special anti-scratch finish for a great protective profile that lets your iPhone's natural beauty shine through.

It's available in clear, or in a special "SE" edition that includes a splash of orange, red, blue, or pink.

The Flak (iPhone 5; $35) is a dual-layer jacket case that slides onto your handset and slides shut to keep the phone safe from bumps and scratches while ensuring unrestricted access to all its ports and cameras.

It comes in black, red, slate, or pink with a black insert.

The Obex (iPhone 5; $80) offers water- and dust-proof protection for your iPhone, exceeding the IP68 standard to include continuous immersion in a liquid, as well as keeping your handset safe from falls of up to four feet at multiple angles.

Made from a combination of polycarbonate and TPU, it's available in black or white, and it features easily-removable silicone stoppers that provide ready access to the Lightning port and headphone jack.

The Magia Wallet (iPhone 5; $55) is handmade from fine leather and sports a luxurious, seamless design. The case uses special tape adhesive to keep your handset securely fastened without bothersome straps.

The Magia Wallet features four pockets to hold cards and cash, and it comes in black, red, or brown.

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

Simon Harriott

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
