Samsung finally makes Galaxy S IV official

Samsung finally confirmed this weekend that the Galaxy S IV would be rolled out on 14 March

After months of rumor and speculation, Samsung finally confirmed this weekend that the Galaxy S IV would be rolled out at a March 14 press event in New York.

The news first broke on South Korean news site EDaily, according to Reuters, with Samsung mobile chief JK Shin confirming the planned New York launch. The news agency also noted that this will be Samsung's first U.S. Galaxy launch since the original Galaxy S in 2010.

Official invitations were sent to the media, as well, which read, in part, "ready 4 the show" - a fairly clear reference to the Galaxy S IV. An exact location wasn't provided, though the invite did say the event will take place at 7 p.m. EST.

A post to the company's official Twitter feed shows an image of the invitation, which will apparently be streamed live on YouTube.

No details about the device itself were made official, however, which means that the rumor mill is likely to remain busy until launch. The general consensus gives the Galaxy S IV a 5-inch, 1080p display, 2GB of RAM, and an eight-core Exynos SoC, but this is based largely on conjecture and unconfirmed reports. Some of the wilder speculation includes eye tracking software and a flexible display.

While the Galaxy S IV remains the hot topic of conversation in the Android world, it's far from the only game in town. Rival HTC recently released its own cutting-edge flagship in New York, and a host of new Android devices are being debuted at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
