Teac gets serious with new LED TV

First back-lit LED TV is 32in, costs $499

Teac has launched its first full back-lit LED TV, the 32-inch DLE3289HD. The television uses a sheet of LEDs to light its LCD panel, with theoretically better picture quality than a comparable edge-lit LED screen.

This TV is unique in that it's one of the only LED back-lit LCD TVs in the smaller 32-inch size, but also in its low price. Most LED back-lit TVs cost around $2000 and above, but Teac is selling the DLE3289HD at a quarter of that price.

With a 1366x768pixel, non-Full HD screen, the Teac DLE3289HD can record TV to USB, and play media files off a connected external hard drive or flash drive. It has three HDMI ports and VGA for connecting a PC, as well as older analog inputs like component and composite.

The DLE3289HD has a recommended retail price pegged at $499, but can already be found slightly cheaper: it's $446 at JB Hi-Fi.

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
