Pegatron begins iPhone 5 production ready for September launch - report

The iPhone 5 rumour mill heats up as expected launch date nears closer

New reports suggest that Pegatron has begun production of the sixth-generation iPhone, and an analyst has predicted that this is in preparation for a September launch.

Digitimes reports that Pegatron's factory in Shanghai, China, is currently manufacturing the next iPhone, dubbed the iPhone 5. The report cites "industry sources in Taiwan," which claim that Pegatron will see a drop in notebook orders during the third quarter of 2012, but orders of the new iPhone will be enough to make up for resulting decreased revenues.

KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo predicts that Apple is planning to launch the iPhone 5 at the beginning of September. "iPhone 5 to debut in September. But due to in-cell touch panel and casing yield rate limits, ability to offset older models' shipments decrease will be moderate," read one of the bullet points in Kuo's note.

Kuo also predicts that Apple will launch the iPad mini shortly after the iPhone 5, as well as an internal update to the current iPad, reports MacRumours.

Digitimes' report suggests that Pegatron is Apple's second manufacturing partner working on a new version of the iPad, although it does not specify whether it is referring to the iPad mini or the minor update to the 10in iPad.

Kuo expects that Apple's iPhone sales will exceed 55 million in the fourth quarter of 2012 as a result of the new model, an that iPad sales could reach 24 million during the same period.

In the same note, Kuo also predicted that Apple will launch a 13in MacBook Pro with Retina display and a new iMac lineup in September.

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
