Publisher Electronic Arts will release a demo for 38 Studios' Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning game on 17 January for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC.
The demo is designed to let players not only experience the game before it gets released to retail, but also unlock special items for the final game.
The full game of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning will be available in Australia on 9 February and in New Zealand on 10 February for all three platforms.
In an interesting PR manoeuvre, 38 Studios has collaborated with BioWare for a cross promotion that rewards fans of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3, the highly anticipated sequel to last years sci-fi hit.
Special in-game items can be unlocked in the upcoming demos for both games, which includes Mass Effect 3-inspired, Omni-blade daggers in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and special themed armor and assault rifle in Mass Effect 3, which have been designed by Spawn comic book creator, Todd McFarlane.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to deliver this massive one-two punch with Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and Mass Effect 3", 38 Studios chairman and founder, Curt Schilling, said.
"We wanted to provide fans of the Mass Effect franchise with a unique set of rewards for diving into the expansive universe of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning".
Renowned studio BioWare is also pleased to bring Mass Effect 3-inspired items into the world of Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, especially ones that are designed by notable comic book artist, Todd McFarlane.
In the past, McFarlane has contributed to video games such as Namco's Soul Calibur II in 2003, where he created the character Necrid for the console port of the game and Spawn appeared as a playable character in the Xbox version.
"This is an awesome way to reward our fans with unique content that not only looks cool, but also delivers some great in-game benefits", BioWare co-founder and general manager of EA's BioWare label, Dr. Ray Muzyka, said.
Players will receive two unlocks for Mass Effect 3 when playing the Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning demo, consisting of the Reckoner Knight Armor, which maximise damage done in close-quarters combat, and the Chakram Launcher, which shoots lightweight, explosive ammunition discs.
The items, both designed by McFarlane, can be used with Mass Effect 3 when it is released locally on 8 March.
In turn, by playing the upcoming Mass Effect 3 demo, players will unlock the N7 Armour, inspired by Commander Shepard's in-game armour, and Onmiblade Daggers, holographic blades that stem from Commander Shepard's Omni-Tool.
These items can be used in Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning when the game launches on 9 February.
