VIDEO: Surfing champ Stephanie Gilmore becomes the face of Nikon in Australia

Nikon also announces a three-year partnership with Surfing Australia

Stephanie Gilmore will be part of a locally-produced Nikon campaign that forms part of the camera company's 'I AM' global marketing strategy. This announcement follows a three-year deal done between Nikon and Surfing Australia, which will see Nikon become Surfing Australia's official camera and also its naming sponsor for the Surf Photo of the Year and Surf Movie of the Year awards.

The partnership is a natural one according to Surfing Australia CEO, Andrew Stark: "Surfing and photography go hand in hand as both are about capturing that one beautiful moment that you can't recreate. We're delighted to partner with Nikon. We have found Nikon product to be pretty unbeatable and we've all put it through its paces, so we really believe in the Nikon brand which is why we chose Nikon as our camera partner".

At the launch in Bondi today, Stephanie also showed off some her photos, which she has taken with the ruggedised Nikon Coolpix AW100. The main draw card of this camera: it's waterproof!

Incidentally, we shot the video using the Nikon 1 V1 with the 10-30mm lens.
