How long do irons take to warm up? It depends on the wattage and temperature setting of the iron, which can vary from approximately 80 seconds to five minutes.
Can you adjust the steam setting? Most irons have a variable continuous steam setting.
Do irons have a self-clean feature? Some irons have this feature but it is mostly a gimmick. The most effective way to clean an iron is to use an iron cleaning solution.
Does the weight of an iron matter? Depending on the amount of ironing required and the person doing the iron, the weight of the iron can greatly affect the way a person irons. A heavier iron can remove wrinkles easier without having to apply pressure to it but can become difficult to use after ironing a number of clothing.
If the iron has an 'auto shut off' feature will it turn off while it's being used? No, the auto shut-off feature will only turn off the iron when it has been left immobile for a certain length of time.
Will an iron burn my clothes if I have put it on the wrong setting? Is it possible for an iron to burn clothes? Yes, an iron can burn your clothes if used on the incorrect heat setting, be sure to read the manufacturer's instruction manual on how to use the correct temperature setting for your iron.
How do I clean an iron? Read the manufacturer's instruction manual that came with your iron for cleaning instructions, otherwise you could void the warranty.
Do I need an ironing board? Yes, an ironing board can make ironing easier and quicker.
Why does my iron leak or not produce steam on lower temperature settings? A temperature of 100 degrees or greater is required to generate steam, so if the soleplate temperature is too low there is not enough heat to generate steam.
What kind of iron would you recommend for ironing large loads? We'd recommend a steam generator iron which will provide continuous steam for non-stop ironing.
