iPad 2 gets 3D without glasses

A glasses-free monocular 3D display has been created for the iPad 2 by tracking the head of the user with the front facing camera

A French research group has used the iPad 2's front facing camera to enable the tablet to display 3D images without the need to wear glasses.

First published on App Advice.com, the feat has been described as "tracking the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display".

Jeremie Francone and Laurence Nigay from the Laboratory of Informatics of Grenoble, EHCI Research Group are responsible for the breakthrough, and achieved it without using the iPad 2's built in accelerometers.

"We track the head of the user with the front facing camera in order to create a glasses-free monocular 3D display. Such spatially-aware mobile display enables to improve the possibilities of interaction. It does not use the accelerometers and relies only on the front camera," the pair posted on their YouTube video demonstrating the feat.

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.
