HP is another in the long line of technology vendors launching a tablet in 2011, and like any hot product, what would it be without leaks a few weeks before its official launch?

Set to be unveiled officially on 9 February, the HP tablet (codenamed Topaz) will be the first to run Palm's webOS platform, following HP's acquisition of Palm last year. According to Pre Central, the 9.7 in tablet (the same size as the iPad) will be equipped with the following specifications:

1.2GHz Qualcomm MSM8660 CPU
Adreno 220 GPU
512MB RAM
Bluetooth 2.1
Front facing 1.3-megapixel camera
802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi
9.7in oleophobic "Gorilla glass" display with 1024x768 resolution
16GB, 32GB or 64GB of storage
8 hour battery life using 3150mAh battery

The document also suggests that a Wi-Fi only version of the HP tablet will also hit the market, though this likely to be released later.

Having played with the Palm Pre Plus and coming away feeling very impressed with the intuitiveness of the webOS platform, we can only hope that the HP tablet eventually hits Australia given its excellent list of specifications. Stay tuned!
