Having to wear glasses is one of the big drawbacks of current 3D TVs. They can be uncomfortable, they're often expensive, and they make you look like a dork.
Companies like Samsung and Toshiba are working on bringing glasses-free 3D TVs to market, but there are no consumer-level models available yet. Nintendo's 3DS handheld games console promises 3D effects without the eyewear, but it won't be quite the same as sitting back for some sporting action on your 60in LED TV.
Jonathan Post claims to have come up with a novel solution. Okay, it's not that much of solution, but it's certainly novel. By using a pair of electrodes, the system can simulate 3D TV active shutter glasses by rapidly opening and closing alternate eyes. Quite frankly, we think it looks terrifying (if creative!)
Update: Okay maybe it was a hoax after all!
