Building your own PC may seem to be difficult or a waste of time but it has many advantages. One of these is that your wallet will be much better off, as buying individual parts and putting them together can be significantly cheaper than buying a ready-made PC from a retail store. You can choose what parts you want, depending on what you want to use your PC for. Don’t know how to put everything together? Aren’t sure what parts you’re going to need and how much they will cost? We will run you through each step of putting together a desktop PC.

Part One: Building a PC -- Choosing your components

In the first part of the series, we guide you through choosing your components. We cover everything you need to know about motherboards, graphics, hard drives and more.

Part Two: Building a PC -- Installing a motherboard

Part Three: Building a PC -- installing the CPU

Part Four: Building a PC -- adding RAM and cards

Part Five: Building a PC -- connecting the PSU

What's the use of having a computer with no power supply? In part five we teach you how to connect a PSU.

Part Six: Building a PC -- inserting the drives

The next step in our seven-part series is installing your hard drives to store your data.
