Telstra increases data for prepaid Next G customers

Telstra's prepaid Next G customers will receive a welcome boost to their monthly data usage after the company announced data allowance changes to its mobile broadband plans.
The changes, which came into effect on 23 February, offer both existing and new customers an increase in their data allowance per month, longer expiry periods for recharge plans, and 1GB bonus data for new users (to be used in the first month).
The $40 recharge option has been increased more than three times the previous limit, up to 1GB of data per month, compared to previous 300MB limit. Telstra customers who choose the $60 recharge option will receive 3GB of data, an increase of more than 2GB.
Users that use less data over a longer period of time have the option to select longer expiry periods. Telstra is offering a 3GB allowance for use within 90 days and a 4GB package that expires in 180 days, priced at $130 and $150 respectively.
Telstra Consumer’s Acting Group Managing Director, Glenice Maclellan, said that customers can keep track of what they are spending as there are no bills or fixed contracts to worry about.
“We only charge customers for every kilobit of data they use so they can rest assured they're only paying for what they use within the recharge period, giving them greater control and transparency,” she said.
Changes to the Next G recharge plans coincide with Telstra’s revamping of its fixed broadband, home plans, wireless consumer and business broadband. New savings have also been offered to those customers who bundle multiple Telstra services.
