Apple offers back to school rebates for students

Rebates of up to $268 available when purchasing a new Mac and an iPod

Apple Australia is helping school and uni students get back to school by offering rebates on selected Mac computers including the popular MacBook and MacBook Pro notebooks, and iMac desktops.

The offer is available to tertiary students, faculty or staff members and parents purchasing on behalf of their child, and applies when customers purchase a Mac computer and an iPod. Purchasers who choose an iPod Touch or iPod Classic can receive a $268 mail-in rebate, while the rebate offered on other models is varied — iPod Nano 8GB ($199), iPod Nano 16GB ($249), iPod Shuffle 4GB ($109) and iPod Shuffle 2GB ($79).

The offer is available from all Apple retail stores, Apple's online store and a range of other participating stores, and ends on 29 March.

Apple is also offering cash-back deals for users who purchase a Mac computer and a printer. A mail-in rebate of up to $130 is available when choosing a HP printer to bundle with the Mac, and the offer doesn't end until 19 April.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
