WoW character seller arrested for fraud

Florida resident Christopher H. Bouffard was taken into police custody Monday

Another gamer is in police custody after a 23-year-old World of Warcraft player was arrested in Clearwater, FL this week on charges of defrauding customers who purchased his World of Warcraft characters online.

Clearwater resident Christopher H. Bouffard was taken into police custody Monday at the behest of at least two scorned customers who claimed to have been robbed of nearly $800 apiece. Police claim Bouffard sold his Warcraft characters to the plaintiffs but never turned over the account retrieval information, even after he received payments from at least two customers. After repeated attempts to collect their characters the plaintiffs sought police intervention, and Bouffard now faces one charge of scheming to defraud and two charges of grand theft. Bail has been set at $20,000.
