Toshiba has become the first major television manufacturer to release small-screen LCD TVs with integrated DVD players in Australia: the DV615Y series of televisions. The series includes 19in, 22in and 26in models.

Until now, only smaller manufacturers like Teac and Soniq have released TVs with integrated DVD players.

The new Toshiba TVs are energy efficient, with the 19in model gaining the maximum six star MEPS rating. The 22in and 26in models have 5.5 and five star ratings, respectively.

Unlike many cheaper combo LCD TV/DVD units from companies such as Teac, Toshiba uses 16:9 widescreen panels in its combo televisions, with an HD resolution of 1366x768 (16:10 panels stretch DVD video content to fit their screens).

The DV615Y TVs come with two-year warranties. The 19in 19DV615Y has an RRP of $849, while the 22in 22DV615Y and 26in 26DV615Y retail for $949 and $1049, respectively. The TVs are available in-store now.
