Amazon's Kindle e-book reader to ship to Australia

Australians will soon be able to get their hands on Amazon's much-loved Kindle e-book reader. The online retailer announced today that people around the world will now be able to purchase the Kindle — formerly only available to US residents — with the device set to ship on 19 October.
"Penguin is a leading supplier of digital books to Kindle in the US and we are delighted to be extending that successful partnership to the rest of the world," said John Makinson, the CEO of publishing company Penguin.
The Kindle is equipped with 3G connectivity, allowing users to download e-books over the air, without the need for access to a Wi-Fi network. The device is equipped with 2GB of memory, allowing up to 1500 books to be stored. According to Amazon, more than 200,000 English-language e-books are available from the Kindle Store.
