Sharp has launched locally the first LED-backlit LCD television with an integrated Blu-ray disc player, the 40in AQUOS LC-40LB700X. This television has a six star energy rating, 100Hz motion control and multimedia connectivity.
The Sharp AQUOS LC-40LB700X is the first model from the company to feature LED back-lighting. Using Sharp’s white LED technology, the screen has a contrast ratio of 2000000:1, rivaling the ratings of LED television screens from Samsung and Sony. The television’s life-span is also improved thanks to LED technology, with the screen rated to last 100000 hours at standard settings.
As the first television to include a Blu-ray disc player integrated into its body, the Sharp AQUOS LC-40LB700X has the market all to itself. Generally only the small-screen models on the Australian market have integrated DVD players, while larger plasma and LCD televisions have USB or Ethernet multimedia connectivity. With stand-alone Blu-ray disc players costing upwards of $400, Sharp’s inclusion makes the $3200 price point of this television quite reasonable.
The television has a six star energy rating, and consumes just 139W in standard operation, despite the integrated Blu-ray disc player. The integrated Blu-ray player is BD-Live capable, using the television’s Ethernet port for Internet access and connectivity. A USB terminal is also built in for multimedia access using flash drives.
Sharp has previously stated plans to release an additional 46in model with an integrated Blu-ray disc player. The 40in LC-40LB700X is available now at an RRP of $3299.
