Wikipedia launches Apple iPhone app

App won't let users access content offline

Wikipedia has launched an app for Apple's iPhone that converts the online encyclopedia's articles into a format that's easy to read on the smartphone.

The app, which is available free of charge from Apple's iTunes app store, won't let users modify content on the site's pages.

Also, unlike mobile versions of the site for other makes of handset, the Wikipedia iPhone app won't let users save articles for offline reading or search in pages. It will however let you view your search history on the site.
