Creative announces ZEN MX and ZEN Mosaic EZ300 MP3 players

New MP3 players feature video, photo and music playback

Creative Technology has released two new MP3 players: the ZEN MX and the Zen Mosaic EZ300. The Zen MX has the same form factor as the Creative Zen, with a 2.5-inch TFT LCD screen. The Creative Zen Mosaic EZ300 builds on the previous Creative Zen Mosaic.

The Creative ZEN MX is available in 8GB and 16GB varieties, with both possessing a SD/SHDC card slot to expand storage, a built-in FM radio, a voice recorder and an alarm clock.

The ZEN Mosaic EZ300 has a built-in speaker, as well as calendar and contacts features. It can also be used as a mass storage device for holding data from your PC. The Creative ZEN Mosaic EZ300 will be released in 4GB and 8GB varieties.

The plug-and-play design allows users to easily drag and store music files on the MP3 player without using proprietary software. Creative’s Centrale software suite is also included with both players to allow the transfer of photos and videos.

Going on sale in Creative’s online Singapore store in mid-June, Australian availability of the two players has not been confirmed. The Creative ZEN MX has a suggested retail price of $S189 for the 8GB model and $249 for the 16GB model, while the ZEN Mosaic EZ300 will cost $109 for the 4GB version and $139 for the 8GB version.

For work use, Microsoft Word and Excel programs pre-installed on the device are adequate for preparing short documents.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
