"Canon's EOS 500D is a nice step up from the 400D. It is worth considering this digital SLR if you want the ability to capture high quality video with a still camera."

cnet.com.au:

"The 500D is a very capable camera that is ideal for someone who is just entering the world of digital SLRs. The inclusion of high-definition video adds even more appeal to the already good-looking package. It's a pretty crowded market segment, with the Nikon D5000 and the Olympus E-620 also in the "not quite entry level"' dSLR space, but the 500D is a pretty strong contender and on specs alone is very appealing."

Dphotojournal.com:

Techradar.com:

"Essentially what we have here is a scaled-back 50D with 15.1 megapixels, new Digic 4 image processor and the ability to record full-HD 1080p video (the only other Canon SLR that offers this is the pro-level 5D Mark II)."

Rating: 4/5

PC Mag:

"Offering image quality and a robust feature set typically found in pricier prosumer-level D-SLRs, the Canon EOS Rebel T1i is a definite game-changer."

Rating: 4/5

Reghardware.co.uk:

"The problem companies like Canon face is offering DSLRs with Full HD video, which at the same time, don’t harm its sales of camcorder products or more expensive DSLR offerings like the EOS 5D Mark II, which has Full HD at 30fps. It’s a hard balance to get right and, in its attempts to achieve it, it appears that Canon has compromised the video performance a little too much on the EOD 500D."

Rating: 4/5

Photoreview.com.au:

"Build quality has been matched to the 500D's market position, which is a step above entry level. Despite looking a little plasticky, the new model's body feels solid, thanks to a stainless steel core beneath the polycarbonate resin casing, which has glass fibre reinforcement for additional strength."

HP OfficeJet Pro 8730

I've had a multifunction printer in the office going on 10 years now. It was a neat bit of kit back in the day -- print, copy, scan, fax -- when printing over WiFi felt a bit like magic. It’s seen better days though and an upgrade’s well overdue. This HP OfficeJet Pro 8730 looks like it ticks all the same boxes: print, copy, scan, and fax. (Really? Does anyone fax anything any more? I guess it's good to know the facility’s there, just in case.) Printing over WiFi is more-or- less standard these days.

Ultimately, I think the Windows 10 environment is excellent for me as it caters for so many different uses. The inclusion of the Xbox app is also great for when you need some downtime too!

For me, the Xbox Play Anywhere is a great new feature as it allows you to play your current Xbox games with higher resolutions and better graphics without forking out extra cash for another copy. Although available titles are still scarce, but I’m sure it will grow in time.
