Vodafone kills data-roaming charges for the summer

Calls from abroad will cost the same as in the UK

Vodafone has revealed its customers will be able to send texts and picture messages as well as make phone calls from abroad for the same price as in the UK throughout this summer.

From June 1 until the end of August, pay as you go (PAYG) and contract customers who have a 'Vodafone Passport' will have their data-roaming charges abolished when they text or call from abroad. Monthly customers who have a minute or text allowance will be allowed to use these when they make calls or texts from outside the UK.

"With our Vodafone Passport promotion you can sit on the beach with your phone switched on knowing you can take and make a call just as you would if you were in your back garden," says Ian Shepherd, consumer director for Vodafone UK.

PAYG customers should text 'Passport' to 97888, while those on a contract should send the same text to 2345. Alternatively customers can register online.

The mobile network also revealed it was reducing the price of international calls for customers on its Simply tariff to as little as 5p per minute to both landlines and mobile number.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
