Panasonic has released information on its new Premiere Home Theatre Plasma series. The 65in and 50in Panasonic TH-65VX100W and TH-50VX100W are Full HD plasma TVs with a native 1080p resolution.

A 60,000:1 contrast ratio means that deep blacks and bright, clear whites are able to be displayed simultaneously, while an industry-leading 7160 steps of colour gradation allows colours to be displayed accurately and without loss of detail. In addition to targeting home theatre enthusiasts, Panasonic believes the screens are suitable for broadcast and production studios.

A series of picture adjustment options allows professional-grade colour management for 16 categories including colour, contrast, white balance and gamma. These settings can be saved independently for each input, allowing installers or production professionals to tailor the screen for different situations.

Panasonic’s newest generation of Dynamic Black Layer technology allows deep, solid blacks with a new coating to reduce pre-discharge light emissions from plasma cells. The VX100W series televisions feature an optical filter with a colour range covering 120 per cent of the HDTV colour standard, and an 18-bit digital signal processor converts video for optimum display on the panel.

The Panasonic TH-50VX100W plasma TV retails for $7138, while the TH-65VX100W plasma TV is priced at $13,749. Both models are available now.

LIFEBOOK UH574

The Fujitsu LifeBook UH574 allowed for great mobility without being obnoxiously heavy or clunky. Its twelve hours of battery life did not disappoint.

STYLISTIC Q702

The screen was particularly good. It is bright and visible from most angles, however heat is an issue, particularly around the Windows button on the front, and on the back where the battery housing is located.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
