Epson EH-TW5000 and EH-TW4000 projectors launched

Epson’s newest home theatre projectors add 100Hz and DeepBlack technology.

Epson has released two new 1080p home entertainment projectors. The Epson EH-TW4000 and Epson EH-TW5000 projectors feature the latest implementations of the company's DeepBlack technology, which combines a streamlining of the projection light path — for a high native contrast ratio — with a super-fast dynamic iris to enable a dynamic contrast ratio of 75000:1. This allows immersive black levels and increased contrast.

The other innovative feature debuting in the models is Epson’s FineFrame frame interpolation technology, which is similar to the 100Hz frame-doubling found in recent plasma and LCD televisions like the Samsung Series 9. The FineFrame technology smooths out fast motion and removes flickering from 24p Blu-ray playback.

A new lamp offers a high light output of 1600 lumens — meaning the projector will not need to be in a pitch black room to produce a picture with bright colours and high contrast.

The Epson EH-TW4000 and Epson EH-TW5000 are priced competitively, with recommended retail prices of $4799 and $5299, respectively.
