Adelaide-based company NV Phones today launched a range of 10 mobile phone "smart" watches Sydney's Darling Harbour. "I can see in 10-20 years this will actually take over handheld phones", said NV Phones CEO Anthony Cook.
The company also unveiled six traditional smartphones.
Cook said the company has been working on the products with Chinese manufacturers for the past 18 months.
The company hopes to sell more than 100,000 of the wristwatch phones over the next 12 months. The prices range from $399 to $999, and they are currently only available directly from NV Phones online.
The phones are not attached to any network; most of them can use 3G networks, although some are limited to GSM. NV Phones will provide a 12 month, Australia-wide guarantee on manufacturing faults.
