IceTV has announced new features for PVRs and Media Centre PCs that use its service. Any device that is able to connect to the IceTV Interactive Web-scheduling service now has the ability to record via keywords.

Users can simply navigate to the IceTV Interactive Web site, sign in to their accounts and then add a Keyword Record note. Once a television show or movie that matches the keyword enters the schedule — ranging from actors to directors to genres and more — it will be set for recording.

Since the majority of IceTV-connected devices have hard drive storage larger than the TiVo’s 160GB, this service should allow plenty of shows to be recorded before hard drive space runs out.

For space-conscious users the system can be set up to flag shows meeting keyword criteria as Favourites — so they’ll be marked in the IceTV Interactive schedule but not recorded.

The features come at no cost and join a long list of updates to the IceTV Interactive service throughout 2008. The IceTV team say there's more to come in 2009, including downloadable content.
