According to Sony, the updated PSP "will feature a new LCD screen with a wider color gamut and anti-reflection technology, as well as a built-in microphone to enhance both multi-player gaming and Skype calls." All previous features of the PSP-2000, including its design and US$169 price, will remain.
As GamePro's George Jones said, who was in Germany for the announcement, its seems as if Sony might position the PSP-3000 as a mobile phone.
Gamers will be able to purchase the 3000 model on October 14 as a stand alone system, or as a $199 bundle with a 4GB memory card, a copy of Ratchet & Clank: Size Matters, and a download voucher for Everyday Shooter. p
