The Australian iTunes store is now offering purchasable downloads of popular TV series to its Australian customers.
iTunes owner Apple has reached a partnership agreement with the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and the Seven and Nine Networks.
The service will also be offering shows from the American ABC studios, Disney Channel and MTV networks.
Series on offer include Australian shows Summer Heights High, McLeod's Daughters and Sea Patrol, plus hit American shows such as Lost, South Park and Desperate Housewives. Downloads will each cost $2.99 per episode.
Customers who wish to purchase and download TV shows from iTunes will need to have a valid credit card for the country of purchase.
iTunes had already been offering television series' for download to customers from the US, UK, Canada, Germany and France.
Television networks have traditionally been wary of digital distribution methods of their content, but a number of key networks are beginning to embrace services such as iTunes, probably in a way to combat the popularity of file-sharing these shows through BitTorrent.
