Microsoft announced today that the 'Elite' version of its Xbox 360 console will hit Australian stores on 30th August.
Catering for the high-end AV enthusiast, the new model sports a glossy black finish similar to the PlayStation 3 and is equipped with a larger 120GB hard drive, as well as a built-in HDMI interface. A black wireless headset and controller are also included in the sales package, along with a HDMI cable. The new console will sell for a recommended retail price of $729.95 alongside the previous 20GB model and Core version; both of which received a price-cut earlier in the week.
News first broke out about the Elite console back in February, when an inside source at Australian department store Myer revealed Microsoft's plans to ship a 'mystery' black console. The machine's existence was later confirmed by Microsoft and introduced into the US market.
The 120GB hard drive is also available as an attachable upgrade for current Xbox 360 owners who want the benefits of extra memory.
