Sony has announced a new, trimmed down "slimmer and lighter" Playstation Portable during its E3 presentation.

The new model will 33 percent lighter (189g down from 280g) and 19 percent slimmer than the original (18.6mm thick vs. the original's 23mm).

The new unit will come with a video-out port (S-Video or Component), allowing you to play games, UMDs and memory stick movies on a large screen.

Other improvements include faster load times, improved battery life and a new range of themed colours (e.g. - 'Piano Black' and 'Ice Silver')

The new PSP debuts in the US in September, and will be priced at US$200.

STYLISTIC Q702

My first impression after unboxing the Q702 is that it is a nice looking unit. Styling is somewhat minimalist but very effective. The tablet part, once detached, has a nice weight, and no buttons or switches are located in awkward or intrusive positions.
